Mother and Child – Interlocking Amethyst and Turquoise Necklace

Mother and Child – Interlocking Amethyst and Turquoise Necklace

Since Neptune’s Daughter I’ve been thinking of the mother and child theme (or in Neptune’s case, father and daughter. I suppose more accurately, I’ve been thinking of the symbolism of parent/protector/nuturer and child). In any case, mother and child is a classic theme in art.

This necklace is made of two hollow forms that interlock. The larger piece (mother), is a organic turquoise and silver and the smaller piece (child) that nestles into it is a faceted amethyst and silver. The pieces may be worn together or the amethyst bead may be worn on its own.

Turquoise is said to open the throat chakra and helps the wearer open to self-expression and communication. The throat chakra is connected with divine will. Amethyst is connected to the crown chakra and opens the wearer to the divine self. It is also supposed to stimulate prophetic dreams. Turquoise and amethyst is a powerful combination!

Coral Shadowbox Pendant

Coral Shadowbox Pendant

I have been having so much fun making the turquoise shadowbox pendants that I decided to make some with coral as well.

Coral looks elegant against the black background of the shadowbox. A slightly different feel from the turquoise.

This piece is approximately 1 and 3/4 inches long, by half an inch wide, by 1/4 inch deep.

The rich reds, browns, golds, rusts, and hints of deep purple in this bracelet naturally occurs in copper when it is heated a certain way. The colors add to the beauty of the shape of this bracelet.

Peridot and Amethyst Dual-sided Pendant

Peridot and Amethyst Dual-sided Pendant

This pendant may be worn with either the peridot facing outward or the amethyst facing outward. It is a hollow form, completely hand fabricated (hand-made), and the only pendant of its kind.

If you are into energetics, amethyst stimulates the Crown Chakra and the connection with the divine, peridot the Heart Chakra and the ability to give and attract love (and wealth), and silver the Root Chakra and the ability to physically manifest hopes and dreams.

The piece is approximately two inches long.

Dusk and Dawn – Married Metals Dangling Earrings

Dusk and Dawn – Married Metals Dangling Earrings

These earrings sold so quickly I didn’t get the chance to photograph them with the earring wires!

This pair is completely handmade – the copper and silver were cut out with a jeweler’s saw and hand-hammered. The fluctuations in the metal catch light so that there are gentle glimmers of light with the movement of the earrings.

The silver reminds me of night, and the copper reminds me of the day – hence the title: Dusk and Dawn.

Similar earrings may be made to order.

Turquoise and Silver Beads

Turquoise and Silver Beads

I set these beads in silver so that the necklace passes behind the turquoise. Each bead is different, and based on the shape of the turquoise.

The beauty of making these beads is that each one is completely unique. The beads make a stunning addition to any necklace, or may be worn alone as a pendant.

FIre Agate Pendant

Fire Agate Pendant

Fire agate is a rare form of agate found in the southwestern United States and Mexico.

Fire agate can be red, green, gold, and blue-violet. It requires skillful work to cut fire agate in order to maintain its iridescence, and generally, the grain of the stone dictates the shape of the cut (which is why it is not found in mass-produced jewelry).

I worked with the shape of this stone to create pendant. It is a hollow form of fine and sterling silver. It is about 2 1/2 inches long, about 3/4 inches at the widest point.

Anticlastic Hollow Form Copper Bracelet

Anticlastic Hollow Form Copper Bracelet

This bracelet has been fired to bring out the natural beauty and bright red in the copper. The color that surfaces is unique to each piece.

I have left the hollow form open, creating a slit along the edge. The opening accentuates the natural, delicate curve of the bracelet.

This piece is smooth and lightweight. Sits comfortably on the wrist.
